These New Lay’s Chips Will Take You Across America
If I have one food addiction, it’s potato chips. I can mindlessly polish off a bag that’s big enough for a family reunion. And I have. So you can understand my enthusiasm for not one, but five new flavors from Lay’s.
The chip maker just unveiled a new line of “Flavor Icons.” Each one of these flavors is inspired by an iconic menu items from well-known local restaurants across America. They include:
- Cocina Azul’s Chile Relleno – inspired by the dish at the Albuquerque restaurant.
- El Torito’s Carnitas Street Taco – based on the popular Los Angeles taco joint.
- Geno’s Steaks Philly Cheesesteak – inspired by one of Philadelphia’s cheesesteak institutions.
- Grimaldi’s Kettle Cooked New York Style Pizza – based on the beloved Brooklyn pizza pie.
- Party Fowl’s Nashville Hot Chicken – inspired by the Music City favorite.
The only flavor I have prior experience with is the one from Philadelphia. Geno’s is a traditional stop on what I like to call the “Philly Cheesesteak Trail,” along with Pat’s King of Steaks, which across the street from Geno’s, and Jim’s Steak’s on South Street. But back to the chips. Lay’s new Flavor Icons are now in stores, but the Chile Relleno flavor is only available at 7-Eleven and Walmart.
