If you've lived in the North Carolina for more than ten minutes, then you know about Mt. Olive Pickles. I put that brand in the same category as Cheerwine, Texas Pete Hot Sauce, and Lance Crackers. Their roots run deep in these parts.

While the folks from Mt. Olive make a mighty fine pickle, they're not content to rest on their laurels. The company has introduced the perfect beverage for hot southern summer days: Mt. Olive Pickle Juicers. Yep, just the juice.

I first heard of drinking pickle juice years ago when some of the Philadelphia Eagles players were doing it during their summer training camp. Pickle juice is sort of like a salty sports drink. According to Healthline, it's full of minerals and nutrients that help athletes before and after workouts, plus it can soothe muscle cramps. I've also heard pickle juice is good for hangovers, but I like it simply for the taste.

Mt. Olive is now selling 3-packs of 2 oz. Pickle Juicers at Food Lion. The company says the 3-packs and the 64 oz. jug will be available on Amazon in the near future. Both will also be sold at other retailers later this year. So the next time you're done mowing your lawn, and it's 95 in the shade, grab yourself an ice cold pickle juice.
