It has been pushed back one year, but Charlotte is still getting a Major League Soccer team.

Originally scheduled to debut in 2021, David Tepper's MLS franchise will now begin playing in 2022. The delay was caused by the coronavirus pandemic. WBTV reports that the team's official name, crest, and colors will be unveiled on Wednesday (7/22).

The live announcement is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM and will be streamed on the team website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels. Additional content will be posted on the Charlotte MLS Instagram page.

It appears that All Carolina FC, Charlotte Fortune FC, and Charlotte Monarchs FC have been eliminated as possible names for the club. The remaining contenders include Carolina Gliders FC, Charlotte FC, Charlotte Athletic FC, Charlotte Crown FC, and Charlotte Town FC.
