2020 is the year of cancellations, for obvious reasons. Another cancelation was announced yesterday. N.C. State Fair held in Raleigh has been canceled for the first time since World War II.
The fair has been operating since 1853 and this year’s cancelation is a bummer. Due to the pandemic, fair organizers decided to hold off this year, which makes sense. The fair was set to happen October 15 through October 25.
Organizers started planning for the State Fair in November 2019 but recently realized the difficulties with sanitizing, managing food lines, and cleaning equipment between rides amid COVID-19 would be too great. Totally understandable.
It’s been years since I went to the N.C. State Fair. It was the late 80’s and I still remember the day. The weather was perfect, a cool fall day, and I was with my best friend Kelly. Kelly went to N.C. State and I went up to see her for the weekend. We had a great time!
You can plan ahead for the 2021 N.C. State Fair which is scheduled for Oct. 14-24 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. It’s definitely a fun time and a must attend event here in N.C. More details can be found here.
