North Carolina Experienced An Earthquake Sunday
If you felt your house move Sunday morning, you aren’t alone. North Carolina experienced a 5.1 magnitude quake yesterday….for real! The U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake happened near Sparta just after 8 A.M. Sunday. The good news? Other than rattled nerves, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
I was sitting on my bed with Mollie and the window began shaking. I figured it was just wind. The next thing I know my bed is shaking! Kramer was in the den, on the couch, and he immediately looked up. We have loud neighbors above us and he thought the “Bigfoots” upstairs were making noise. It was really weird! I thought I was losing it! I’ve lived in North and South Carolina all my life and I’ve never experienced an earthquake. Crazy!
This earthquake was the strongest in our area since 1916. I think most of us are shrugging the quake off since it’s 2020. I mean, NOTHING that happens this year should surprise us. Godzilla could show up and I don’t think any of us would be surprised. We really should print out some “2020 Disaster Bingo” cards. I mean, if we have to deal with all this insanity, we should at least win a prize!
Check out the video below of the quake in action. Wild stuff! You can read more about Sunday’s quake here.
SHAKE! Laura Carter sent in this video of the quake this morning. She is in Hays, NC (Wilkes County).
