Einstein the Talking Texan Parrot is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! Einstein is an African Grey and is extremely talkative. There’s a good chance you’ve seen this bird on television. The bird is a Texan so naturally, he has a guy crush on Matthew McConaughey. He likes the actor so much, he talks like him!
There’s a video that’s gone viral of Einstein playing with a toy, saying some classic McConaughey lines. He says, “alright! alright! alright!” exactly the way the actor does. Einstein also says, “Shake your butt! Shake, shake, shake!” Ha!
Einstein knows the names of several animals and likes to make their sounds. In addition to his silly vocalizations, he likes to have conversations with his owners, talking, doing animal sound imitations, and acting silly. He also enjoys singing and dancing. A parrot such as Einstein can live to be 50 or 60 years old, so owning a pet like Einstein is a major commitment. Parrots need a lot of attention and lots of toys and activities to keep from being bored.
Growing up, my dad had an African Grey parrot as a pet. If you aren’t familiar with these birds, African grey parrots are highly intelligent. Many have been shown to perform at the cognitive level of a four- to six-year-old human child in some tasks. Experiments have shown that grey parrots can learn number sequences and can learn to associate human voices with the faces of the humans who create them. And I know this to be true! Our bird would say things my dad said, laugh like my dad, and cuss like my dad.
