We know that Fast & Furious 9 is slated to be released in April 2021. And we’ve even seen the trailer (below). But there’s one key element to the new movie that was supposed to be kept secret.

According to Complex, F9 star Michelle Rodriguez seemed to confirm in a recent interview that the next movie in the franchise will be going into outer space. I guess that’s why they put a rocket on the Pontiac Fiero in the trailer.

The rumor has been out there since rapper Ludacris hinted at it earlier this summer. When asked during the interview if it was true, Michelle Rodriguez replied, “Nobody was supposed to know that,” blaming the leak on people talking “behind the scenes.”

As for her character heading into orbit, Rodriguez revealed, “I’m not lucky enough to hit space.” Perhaps it will just be Ludacris and Vin Diesel blasting off into the final frontier. And who knows how many more Fast & Furious movies they’re going to make? I don’t think they’ll stop until they have the Muppets appear in one.
