As a hard core rock-and-roll chick, I totally understand wanting a piece of rock memorabilia. That said, I don’t think I’d pay serious cash for a toilet seat cover. But that’s what someone did!
Bill Wyman, legendary Bass player of the Rolling Stone, auctioned some of his prized memorabilia for charity. He sold his 1969 Fender Mustang Bass for over $384,000, making it the most expensive Bass guitar ever sold. I totally get that! He also sold an amplifier for over $106,000, making it the most expensive amp ever sold at auction. I totally get that too!
I don’t get this though. The most surprising sale was his plush yellow toilet seat cover with printed Rolling Stones tongue logo design ( dating from 1975) for an amazing $1,152. Yup. Someone paid over a $1000 for a toilet seat. What do you do with that? Hang it up in your house?
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Folks will spend mad money on their favorite bands memorabilia. I gotta say though, I don’t think I’d want any rock star’s toilet seat cover.
When I was 15 years-old, I met the band Bon Jovi. I asked Jon Bon Jovi for the gum he was chewing. LOL! Why? NO idea! I was 15 and just wanted something that he had touched. Like many chicks in the 80’s, I had mad love for Jon. But again, I was a kid and you do dumb stuff when you’re young.
I’m hoping the guy that bought the toilet seat will post pictures online so we can all see what he does with the thing! You CAN see what the memorabilia looks like here. I’ll say this, the toilet seat IS festive!
