Video games are all the rage, so we decided to shed some light on local video game stars in the Carolinas. This week, we had the chance to sit down with local community gamer, Ihzayah Marcellus, and ask him about being part of the gaming community! Fun fact: Ihzayah is also a student currently at Johnson C. Smith University here in Charlotte, North Carolina!

How did you get into gaming? What was the original goal?

I got into gaming when I was about 2 years old. My goal for gaming was to be the best in whatever game I was playing.

What’s been your best moment as a gamer?

The games that speak to me 2K, Call Of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Assassin Creed.

What games really speak to you?

My advice would be to master your craft at whatever video game you want to be good at.

What advice would you give to aspiring gamers?

Practice! Practice makes perfect. Also, my advice would be to follow esports and stay up to date with any news.

What’s been one of the biggest surprises that you never thought of going into gaming?

My biggest surprise would have to be that there are so many games that have competitive gaming. I am also part of the JCSU esports club and my major is Computer Engineering.
