Have You Taken Up A New Hobby This Year?
The pandemic disrupted life as we knew it and, as a result, we’ve had a lot of downtime this year. But a lot of folks put their time away from the office to good use by developing new a hobbies.
A recent survey conducted by OnePoll finds that over a third of Americans say they picked up at least one new hobby during the pandemic and it has been good for them. 93% of respondents say their hobby gave them a sense of purpose. 89% say it taught them something new about themselves.
Here’s what’s really interesting about the survey: 60% of the respondents say their new hobby has inspired them to make a major life change, like a career change or relocation. If that’s the case, the U.S. could have a lot more chefs soon. These are some of the top hobbies that Americans have taken up in 2020:

- Reading (51%)
- Playing video games (41%)
- Playing board games (31%)
- Meditating (28%)
- Painting/drawing (27%)
- Creating personalized cards (24%)
- Hiking (24%)
- Sewing (24%)
- Yoga (24%)
- Biking (22%)
- Playing an instrument (18%)
- Knitting (17%)
