Did you ever live in a city with a Tower Records in it? If so, you know it was the coolest place to buy music. I spent hours at the one on South Street in Philadelphia when I was in high school. Later, I lived right across the street from one in Seattle. I blew through a lot of paychecks there.

Sadly, the iconic stores declared bankruptcy and went away in 2006. Fast forward fourteen years and Tower Records is back! The beloved music retailer has relaunched online offering vinyl, CDs, cassettes, Tower merchandise, and access to online events. Tower Records will also bring back its Pulse! Magazine which will feature album reviews and artist interviews.

The official relaunch was originally supposed to be revealed at the 2020 edition of South By Southwest but was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Consequence of Sound reports that there's still a plan for Tower Records pop-up shops once that can be done safely. The new CEO, Danny Zeijdel, who succeeded company founder Russ Solomon after his death, says the return of Tower Records "has been met with tremendous success, feedback.”
