The holidays look a little different this year, but there are still safe ways for you to enjoy latkes and light the menorah in the spirit of Hanukkah. If you can’t see your loved ones in person, there’s always Zoom – and we have tips on how to enjoy Hanukkah virtually this year.

  • Get moving with Hannukah Zumba. What’s better than celebrating while also working off all that holiday “cheer”? Fitness instructor Amy Gardneris hosting a Hanukkah Zumba class on Zoom this year – Zoom-ba, if you will. The best part? It’s totally free! The class happens on December 17th and you can sign up here!
  • Celebrate the “Festival Of Lights,” virtually. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston has teamed up with Jewish Arts Collaborative to hold a massive “Festival of Lights” virtual celebration. First, there will be a family-friendly gathering including music, art, storytime, and a Hanukkah in Hebrew celebration, followed by a community candle lighting where you’ll learn more about the traditions and history of Hanukkah. The virtual event happens on Wednesday at 5 pm ET – register for free here!
  • Run a virtual 8K. Here’s another way to get moving for Hanukkah. Asheville Jewish Community Center is hosting a virtual 8K run this weekend, and those who clock the fastest times will be mailed prizes. All you have to do is log your official time using a button provided on the Asheville JCC website and send a pic of yourself running the 8K. Adults pay $35 per person, but anyone under 18 is $25 – register
  • Cook up some Hanukkah treats. Miss cramming the whole family into the kitchen during the holidays? Well, you can still learn how to make some tasty Hanukkah treats while social distancing. Award-winning writer Amelia Saltsman is holding a Hanukkah cooking workshop this weekend where you’ll learn how to make cheese pancakes and other traditional dishes. It costs $15, and you can sign up here!
