A perfect example of this is the peppermint mocha latte. Why do you only see it between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Because, at best, it's just okay. No one is craving it in June. And that's true of a lot of holiday drinks.
A new survey asked 1,000 U.S. adults over 21 were asked to rate their favorite seasonal beverages. I'm not surprised to see hot chocolate at the top of the list. It's not specific to Christmas. I've seen kids drink it in the middle of summer when they're shivering by the pool at a swim meet.
- Hot chocolate (32%)
- Eggnog (25%)
- Apple cider (12%)
- Peppermint-flavored coffee (7%)
- Mulled cider (4%)
- Mulled wine (4%)
- Hot toddy (3%)
- Hot buttered rum (3%)
- Coquito, a.k.a. coconut eggnog (2%)
- Mead (1%)
Ultimately, adults prefer to stick with what they know and already like. Beer, wine, champagne, and liquor are popular anytime. Especially during the holidays.
