One of the many Christmas traditions we’re missing out on this year is going to see live entertainment. Whether they’re orchestral concerts, choral performances, or holiday-themed musicals and plays, those shows are always such a welcome way to break up the frenzy of the cooking and shopping in December. While we’re not able to experience these things in person, Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, NC has kept the tradition going during this coronavirus Christmas season.
For the past four years, Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theater of North Carolina, has celebrated the holidays with their Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas productions. This year, they’re bringing the Christmas show to your home. According to their website:
Experience the magic and merriment with your favorite Vagabonds on stage and around town. This year’s one-of-a-kind production … captures the spirit of the holidays like never before with dancing on Main Street, fireside singing, stunning performances on stage, and a virtually connected chorus. Featuring favorites old and new like “White Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” “Carol of the Bells,” “This Christmas,” and many more.
The website also points out that filming A Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas adhered to all state and county guidelines regarding COVID-19. It was shot on location at the Carl Sandburg National Historic Site, Flat Rock Playhouse, Kanuga Conference Center, and in downtown Hendersonville.
You can see A Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas through Sunday, December 20. Even though the show is virtual, Flat Rock Playhouse has put together a playbill. You can download it, see a preview of the production, and buy your video link ticket HERE.
