Report Uncovers World’s Most Popular Take Out Food

With restaurants forced to close their dining rooms during the pandemic, take out and food delivery saw major growth in 2020. That growth doesn't show any signs of slowing down yet. But which foods are we getting delivered or taking to go the most?

British insurance comparison company MoneyBeach analyzed Google search data in 109 countries, and “pizza takeaway” was the top food-related query people entered in 44 countries, including its home country of Italy. Chinese food was the most popular search term in 29 countries, including the U.S., Mexico, Australia, the U.K. and, yes, China. Sushi was the only other takeaway dish to hit double digits, as the top search in 10 countries, making it the third most popular dish worldwide.

I'm surprised that pizza isn't #1 in the U.S., given the amount of advertising for pizza chains we hear and see every day. I also think tacos and fried chicken would rank higher if this survey focused solely on Americans.
