Throwback Video of the Week!

Originally recorded by British group The Arrows in 1975, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” went on to become the signature hit for Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Joan took the song to #1 in the U.S. and half a dozen other countries after releasing it as a single in December of 1981.

There are three videos for “I Love Rock ‘n Roll.” The first one was shot in color and featured Joan singing to a bar crowd. The second was simply a black-and-white version of the same video. It was converted because Joan hated the look of her red leather jumpsuit. She loved the grittier feel of the black-and-white version, according to Songfacts.┬áThat’s the one you probably remember seeing on MTV.

A decade later, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” was included on the soundtrack for Wayne’s World 2 in 1993. Another music video was produced to coincide with the release of the movie.┬áThat version includes clips of Wayne and Garth along with shots of the band performing the song.
