We’ve had a lot of things taken away from us during the pandemic but at least we can still go outside and get some exercise. Burning calories feels even better when you can do it for a good cause like raising money for a school.
The 9th annual Shamrock Shuffle 5k is happening this month. Due to current coronavirus restrictions, this year’s race will be virtual. You can run or walk a 5k (3.1 miles) on your own anytime between Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 14. Choose from two designed courses in the Plaza Midwood and Country Club Heights neighborhoods, or create your own path. Then it’s up to you to submit your time.
Proceeds from the virtual race benefit Shamrock Gardens Elementary School, which was recently demolished to make way for a brand new facility. Construction is already underway. Registration is $25 for “shufflers” ages 13 and older, $15 for ages 12 and younger. And Shamrock Shuffle tradition calls for a little wearing of the green. Some runners even add tutus and top hats to their attire. Click here for complete details.
