The Charlotte Knights have pushed back the start of their season until May, but mascot Homer the Dragon is keeping busy! Homer helped out the Charlotte Fire Department yesterday put out a fire.

A small brush fire broke out in a flower bed near Truist Field and Romare Bearden Park yesterday. Homer was close by, shooting a commercial in the Knights team store, and decided to help out. He assisted Charlotte Fire Engine 4 with putting the fire out.

Folks around Romare Bearden park Tuesday around noon noticed Homer helping out the fire department. When Homer noticed the fire, he ran over and used a fire extinguisher to help put out the fire.

You don't often see a team mascot putting out fires! Homer had to be sweatin' as mascot costumes are hot! Years ago I dressed as a mascot for a radio station I was working for. I wore that thing for two hours and that was IT for me! Whew! I think I lost 10 pounds wearing that thing.

WCNC was able to secure some pictures and a video which you can see below.
