Gayle King Claims Meghan Markle Has Evidence of Royal Family Racism
Gayle King claims Meghan Markle has “plenty of receipts” backing up the allegations of racism she made during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. She made this remark after a report on the continuing aftermath of the Oprah’s interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (you can see the video via The Sun).
Markle’s allegations against the royal family raised “concerns” during her pregnancy with how dark her son Archie’s skin might be. This triggered an international debate on the royals, race, and the role of the media in perpetuating xenophobia.
King said, “I think Meghan has plenty of receipts, meaning: she’s been keeping track of things.”
Prince William was the first member of the royal family to address the racism allegations made against them saying yesterday, “We are very much not a racist family.”
Earlier this week, we reported a statement on behalf of Queen Elizabeth issued by Buckingham Palace:
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”
Markle’s best friend of 17 years, Janina Gavankar, commented on the royal’s statement telling People, “I can also say that I am personally glad people are doing their due diligence because I also know why someone had to leave, and it was for gross misconduct. The truth will come out, there are plenty of emails and texts about that.”
