5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know You Could Borrow at Charlotte Libraries

Sadly, I think the last time I went to the library was during my school field trip…in 5th grade. Once I entered middle school, the internet started to be the hot new trend and everything (like research) began to be digitalized. Nowadays, pretty much everything is online (even full books) but the library has a lot more than books you can borrow these days!

Here are five items I found. Check out the full list of items and policies available here.

• Podcast Kits

  You can check out a podcasting kit for FREE for three weeks, just like books. You can visit the Borrower Policy page for specific details on fees. Podcast kits can be requested and sent to any of our 20 library locations. Look for them in the catalog under "podcast kit."

• Rentable Wi-Fi Hotspots

  Share

  At the Charlotte library, you can rent this wifi hot spot service. It allows you to rent a portable device to access high-speed Internet anywhere a cell phone signal can be received. You can connect up to ten devices to the Internet at one time! Rental fees apply and can devices can be rented from any of our Library branches. Items borrowed from the Library can be returned to any of our locations except for Hotspot rentals.

• DVD’s

  You can rent DVD's ne releases and those classics to enjoy from the comfort of your home, for FREE! The Library DVD collection is for home use only, unless labeled for other use. Library DVDs are loaned with the understanding that admission fees will not be charged when they are shown.
• Cell Phone Video Kit

  Share

  Kits can be checked out for a total of three weeks at no charge. You can see more on these kits here!

• Chromebooks

  Share

  Need a laptop? Customers can check out a Chromebook for a single two-hour session per day. Chromebooks offer adaptive features like screen magnification and a program called ChromeVox, a screen reading program that allows users to explore the web with the help of synthesized speech.
