Remember the days of waking up early, climbing onto the counter to reach the cereal, and having a bowl while watching cartoons? Good times! I've been a fan of cereal my whole life. As an adult, I often eat it for lunch or dinner. I combine different cereals though. Rarely can I have a bowl of just one kind of cereal.

I'm not the only one that enjoys cereal because there's a new cereal bar opening in Charlotte. Day and Night Exotic Cereal Bar will open on April 10th here in the Queen City. It began as a food truck in Los Angeles by Karmon DuPrée Jr. in 2020. Since then, he has expanded the brand across the midwest through franchising opportunities.

Greg Robinson is the co-owner of the Charlotte location and was approached by DuPrée to open the location. Robinson and his girlfriend Danielle Booker found that nothing like this existed in North Carolina and thought it'd be a good idea.

Now, this cereal concept is a bit different than others as it won't be open for breakfast. The hours will be from 1 PM til 10 PM for now, with the hours expanding past 10 PM once the pandemic is over. It's going to be more of a late-night hang out.

The restaurants menu offers pre-made bowl ideas along with amazing cereal shakes. Of course, they encourage folks to come up with their own mixes. A basic build-your-own bowl or cereal shake includes two cereals and two toppings including granola, honey and even whipped cream. A bowl will go for $7 and shakes are $8.

A few of the cereal options on their menu are:

  • Love Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Order the Mucha Lucha (Cinnamon Toast Crunch topped with whipped cream, churro cereal, buttery cinnamon roll sprinkle and your choice of milk).
  • Honey lovers, the Beehive is sure to please. It’s a mix of Honey Nut Cheerios and Honey Bunches of Oats topped with roasted almond granola and honey. Choose from whole, skim, almond, or oat milk to finish off any bowl or shake.

I love it! And I like that you can pick the milk you want. In addition to cereal, they'll also offer bacon. They even have a bacon flight, $5 for three pieces. Bacon flavors include Jamaican Jerk, maple and black pepper, maple and rosemary, honey and sriracha, or homestyle. Maple and rosemary bacon? Sign me up now!

Honestly, I'm a little bummed they wont' be open in the morning although I get it. Charlotte is a trendy city with a ton of younger adults in uptown. The late-night hours seem smarter and more profitable. I'm just old and rarely go out. LOL! I'll have to get by there for a bowl for lunch once they're open.
