My favorite ride then, and now, is the swings. I've never been much of a roller coaster fan. The swings and the Scrambler were the rides I loved as a kid and they're still the rides I dig.
Carowinds will hold a “Welcome Back Weekend” on May 15 and 16 after closing last year due to the pandemic. The park announced in January that it would reopen for 2021. Your kids will be stoked!
The event will be available to new and old Season Passholders and will take place from noon to 6 p.m. This will give passholders a chance to enjoy the park before it opens to the general public. The park says it’s “pulling out all the stops” for the event. If you're a fan of the water, Carowinds water park, Carolina Harbor, will open on May 29.
Carowinds says spaces are limited for this event so you'll need to get your tickets asap. Season passes must be active to attend the even and members can activate their pass online or drive through the toll plaza at Carowinds on May 1 and May 8 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets will go on sale April 26th at 9 a.m. and you can buy them here.
At the Welcome Back Weekend, Season Passholders will enjoy:
- Favorite rides and attractions
- Special live entertainment
- Appearances by Snoopy and the PEANUTS™ gang
- Unique sweet and savory treats
- Merchandise deals
One of the things I enjoyed as a kid at Carowinds, beside the rides, was the food. For instance, I'll never forget always begging my parents for one of those huge rainbow suckers as we left the park. It would take you days to eat that thing because it was so big. My mom would take it from me when we got home and put it in the fridge. LOL!
