The Queen’s Cup Steeplechase Goes Virtual
The horses are ready to run at the 2021 Queen’s Cup Steeplechase. However, while we’re getting closer to a return to large-scale in-person events, you’ll have to watch this year’s races on a screen.
According to the official website, Queen’s Cup 2021 will begin broadcasting via free live stream at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 24th. Post time for the first of six races will be at 12:30 p.m. with races running approximately every 35 minutes. The races can be streamed on most mobile devices and computers.
Even though you can’t be there in person, you can still participate. There are contests for at-home tailgate and hand-decorated race day hats. The at-home tailgate will be judged in the following three categories: Most Elegant, Most Whimsical, Most Creative. The hand-decorated hats will be judged in these categories: Best in Show for Men, Best in Show for Women, Best in Show for Children.
To enter either or both of the contests, you’ll have to email photos to queenscupsteeplechase@gmail.com by 12:00 pm ET on Monday, April 26th. Then the voting will begin on the evening of Monday, April 26th, and continue through Friday, April 30th on Instagram (@QueensCup). The Queen’s Cup organizers hope to hold the races with a full audience next year on April 30, 2022.
