OMG! I couldn't pass by this story today when I saw this dogs picture. The smile on this dog's face captured my attention immediately and I had to find out more.

Lady Shortcake may be the happiest dog of all time! She's a 6 year-old pit bull who is now in her forever home. Since being rescued, this cutie hasn't stopped smiling.

Lady Shortcake (or Shortcake, for short) is known on social media for being the pit bull with a huge grin. But before finding her new home, Shortcake's life wasn't full of smiles. Owner Amy Matsushima says the dog was originally a stray, wandering the streets of Fresno, California.

Eventually, Shortcake was rescued and taken to a local shelter. She was not in great shape.  After seeing a video of Shortcake during her first vet appointment on the rescue's website, Matsushima says the dog quickly won her heart. She knew she had to meet the dog.

All it took was one in-person meeting for Matsushima to seal the deal and adopt Shortcake. Since moving into her forever home, Shortcake's health has improved and her smile has gotten bigger. The dog now has her own Instagram account with over 186,000 followers.

This dog's smile will melt your heart. She is THE cutest thing!! It's funny because my story of rescuing Kramer is similar. I saw a picture of him on the Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement's Facebook page and I knew I had to meet him! I went to meet him on a Friday and he came home with me that day.

Kramer smiles, but not like this dog. Kramer is more of a hugger, which I discovered very soon after I rescued him. When I would get home from work, Kramer would insist on sitting on me and giving me hugs. So sweet!

Without question, seeing the video of Shortcake smiling will make your day. And if you're looking for an addition to your family, please considering rescuing a pet. So many animals could use a loving home.
