Essential Kids Movies From The ’80s And ’90s
I recently came across an article originally posted in 2018 on Art of Manliness entitled “Movies Every Millennial Dad Should Introduce to His Kids.” At the time, the writer was a father approaching middle age. His 7- and 5-year-old kids already had some favorite movies, but the dad wanted to share some of his childhood favorites with them, just his parents had done with him when he was a child.
The movies the writer offers as the essentials from his childhood cover the period from 1982 to 1995. His list includes E.T., The Goonies, Ghostbusters, The Princess Bride, Home Alone, and The Sandlot. He also adds The Karate Kid (I and II), the Back to the Future trilogy, and the first three Indiana Jones movies.
It’s hard to argue with any of the writer’s choices. You can see his complete list HERE. I would add a few more, though, such as the first three Star Wars movies (I know the first one came out in 1977), Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and Babe. Which kid-friendly movies from the ’80s and ’90s would you recommend?
