Pizza Hut Is Making Us Nostalgic By Bringing Back The ‘Book It!’ Summer Reading Program
The school year is ending which means the dreaded “summer brain drain” is about to set in. Well, not necessarily. If you can keep your kids reading books during the break, they’ll be better off when they go back to school in August. This is where summer reading programs can be a great help and Pizza Hut is serving up a new version of one they had when I was a kid.
If you grew up in the ’80s and ’90s, you might also remember Pizza Hut’s popular Book It! program. Read a certain number of books, earn a free personal pizza. The pizza chain is now launching a new version called Camp Book It! to help you motivate your kids with summer reading.
Here’s how it works:
- Parents can register their PreK – 6th grade (ages 4 – 12) kids in Camp Book It!, running from June through August, on the Book It! site.
- Throughout the summer, the Book It! program will send enrolled parents fun reading recommendations and activities to extend their reading adventure all summer long.
- During those months, parents can log into the digital dashboard to track their children’s reading progress throughout the program.
- When their kids meet the reading goal, the parent will receive a certificate by email that includes a serialized code for a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut. The certificate can be redeemed online, in store, or via phone.
There’s something for us “old heads,” too. Pizza Hut is selling a vintage Book It! shirt for those of us who want to relive the glory days of our youth. You can find more details about everything HERE.
