There’s A Banana Peel Pulled Pork Recipe And No
Now, let me say up front that I do not have an issue with vegans. I’m a huge fan of veggies, and I even enjoy many of the meat substitute products. But I am not with this. It just looks gross.
Pulled pork has never been a favorite of mine. I love brisket and bbq chicken, but pulled pork has never been in my top 10 list of favorite foods. That stated, I still don’t think Banana Peel Pulled Pork is a recipe that should exist.
Vegan pulled pork made from banana peels is now a trend. It’s a recipe that’s become popular on TikTok. To make this bbq sandwich, all it takes is some shredding, boiling, marinating, and sautéing.
If you don’t like the taste of bananas (or even if you do), there’s no residual banana flavor in this sandwich whatsoever. After you scrape off the white part from the insides of the peels then let them boil, the resulting “meat” has virtually no flavor and is the perfect blank slate for whatever barbecue dry rub and sauce you decide to add.
To replicate the pulled-pork texture, there’s actually no shredding involved. You fold each segment of banana peel like a fruit roll up, cut it into thin slices, and then unfold it. You then boil the peels, add seasoning, and cook.
Popsugar has an article about the recipe and the author made this and says it’s good. I’m gonna take her advice. I’m not seeing it on my plate any time soon. I WOULD try it if someone made it, but I’m definitely not whipping it up.
