A criminal cat in Oregon is being called out by her owner and the kitty klepto is now a minor celebrity. Kate Felmet of Beaverton, Oregon put up a sign so her neighbors could retrieve their belongings that were snatched by her cat Esme.

MY CAT IS A THIEF,” reads a large homemade sign including a drawing of Esme with a glove in her mouth. Next to the sign is a small clothesline with numerous gloves and a face mask. So far the sign has worked. A few of the gloves have been taken by the owners and people are loving the sign. Felmet's sign has gone viral on social media, with folks on Twitter sharing their own cat-stealing stories.

According to the site The Conscious Cat, cats engage in this behavior because they're "gifting" or "collecting" as they would when they bring home dead mice and birds to their owner. Basically the cat is bringing it's owner a present. A glove is better than a bird in my opinion. LOL!

Esme is acting on a “prey-retrieval” instinct to bring her “prey” to a safe place. In this story the gloves are the "prey". Awwwww....the kitty just wants to give her owner a present.

The sign is too funny and so are the stories of other cats stealing stuff. Esme is now a star since the story was on the local news. Check out the story below and see the Twitter thread here. Too cute!
