National Ice Cream Day is this Sunday (7/18)! Shouldn't that be Sundae? In any case, it's your civic duty to go out and enjoy a scoop or two. So what's your favorite flavor? That might depend on which state you call home.

Grocery delivery service Instacart gathered data on thousands of ice cream products from all over the U.S. to come up with a list of the favorite ice cream flavor in each state. I've always heard that vanilla is the overall bestseller, and it is. But Instacart wanted to scoop a little deeper to see what folks bought when they went beyond the basics.

The most popular flavor in the most states is Moose Tracks, which is vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge swirls and peanut butter cups. That's a solid choice. It was the winner in twelve states, including South Carolina.

After that, the results are a bit more surprising. There is a four-way tie for second place with Rocky Road, Coffee, Birthday Cake, and Green Tea coming out on top in five states each. Apparently, North Carolina is Birthday Cake country. Here are the full state-by-state results:
