Years ago when I was on-air in Columbia, S.C., my morning show co-host read to me "The Good Wife's Guide". It was published in "Good Housekeeping" in 1955 and it cracked me up!

All the things listed were all about making your man happy, looking perfect, and having the house clean. I'm more about a 50/50 relationship where you make each other happy. And looking perfect and having the home immaculate is not something that's possible all the time. Now, most women work outside the home in addition to being a mom and wife.

The 1955 list is funny to me because I'm such the opposite of how a woman "should" act according to the article. Maybe that's why I'm divorced and single! LOL! If so, I'm cool with that. I've never been big on "knowing my place" and I have definitely never been "seen and not heard".

Now, if this is how you live, rock on! As long as people are happy! I'm just not one to feel inferior to someone else nor constantly put my needs behind the needs of someone else. I think it should be about caring for each other, and not so one sided.

As archaic as the Good Housekeeping article is, this video is even more outdated! This video is from 1934 and it's "What a Housewife Must Know". WOW! Things have seriously changed since then. If I would have been around in the 1930's, I'd have been a "spinster" for sure!
