‘Around The Crown 10K’ Is Back For 2021
Over the past year and a half, I recommitted myself to running. At first, it was out of necessity when the gym shut down. But then, I began to enjoy running more frequently and adding miles. I’ve always said running is just as much about mental health as it is about physical fitness.
When I was younger, I used to run 5K and 10K races. My t-shirt drawer was bursting. The Greek Fest 5K, Elizabeth 8K, and Springmaid Trail Race were some of my favorites. It has been a while since I’ve signed up for anything, but it may be time to get back into it and get a new race shirt.
After a one-year pandemic hiatus, the Around the Crown 10K, presented by Truist, is back for 2021. I’ve never done this one but I like the course. It takes runners through uptown Charlotte and along I-277, so you get to enjoy our beautiful skyline during the race. There’s even live music at the post-race celebration.
According to the Charlotte Observer, there’s a virtual option for those who’d prefer to run from the comfort of their home or neighborhood. The Around the Crown 10K begins at First Ward Park, 301 E. 7th St. on Sunday, September 5th at 8:00 AM. Registrations is $40 for virtual and $50 for in-person entrants. You can sign up here.
