‘Downton Abbey’ Movie Sequel Is In Production
A sequel to the “Downton Abbey” movie began production in April 2021, and it will be in theaters sooner than you might think. According to Us Weekly, the premiere date for “Downton Abbey: A New Era” has been revealed. Mark your calendars for March 18, 2022.
Filming for the sequel is currently underway at Highclere Castle and the entire “Downton Abbey” cast is back. That includes Maggie Smith, Imelda Staunton, Michelle Dockery, and Hugh Bonneville, along with a few newcomers. Dominic West, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock and Nathalie Baye will also appear in this installment.
So far, we know that the sequel picks up with the Downton staff preparing for the family’s journey to Europe, and that there will be a wedding. Who’s wedding remains a mystery. We’ll keep you posted.
