Last week, before their home opener, Portland State University's head football coach offered to buy the beers for fans who came out to see his Vikings take on Western Oregon at Hillsboro Stadium. More than 3,000 people showed up and, now, Bruce Barnum is paying up. Big time.

According to Oregon Live, Coach Barnum made the free beer offer last week while on a sports talk radio show. When asked by the host how many beers he would buy, Barnum replied: “All of them.” In this case, "all of them" meant 2,064 beers. More specifically, 786 Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPAs and 1,260 Coors Lights.

On Tuesday (9/21) afternoon, Coach Barnum tweeted a photo of the receipt for the Vikings' fans’ beers. The tab came out to $14,448. I'm sure it helped that Portland State won the game 21-7. If they hadn't, paying for all those beers might have been much harder to swallow.
