Local Business Helping Women Affected By Breast Cancer
Last week I finished radiation for breast cancer. In July I had a lumpectomy, which involved removing the cancer and a few lymph nodes.I was extremely lucky that my cancer was detected in its early stages. Unfortunately, many women aren’t as lucky as I am. Right now I know of two women who just went through double mastectomies. Their strength is amazing! I’m still exhausted from radiation. It’s truly mind-blowing how women can be so strong. Most of us know someone who has battled breast cancer. It’s a disease that effects you physically and mentally.
A local business in Matthews is offering to help those affected by breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Hello Gorgeous Ink is giving away two 3D Areola tattoos. The business is an extension of Hello Gorgeous Beauty Lounge. in Matthews. Sissy Duncan is the owner and although I don’t know her, I love that she is offering to help women feel more confident about their bodies.
If you’re a survivor of breast cancer or know someone who is, you can submit your story via email to hellogorgeousnc@yahoo.com. You have until October 15 to submit your story. You have until October 15 to enter, and the winners must be at least 18 years old. Hello Gorgeous Ink will reach out to the winners via email and feature the winners on their social media pages.
Breast cancer is a hard thing to deal with, even more so if you’ve had to deal with a mastectomy. Feeling good about yourself and having self confidence is such an important part of recovery. I know first hand how depressing it can be dealing with the diagnosis and staying strong. I love that a local business is reaching out to help others. Very cool! And I know I’ve said it before, but please ladies, get that mammogram yearly! It can save your life.
