A dog named Lou has made history. The three-year-old female Black and Tan Coonhound from Milwaukie, Oregon owns the Guinness World Record for having the longest ears on a living dog.

According to the media release, each one of Lou’s ears measures 13.38 inches in length. Paige Olsen, a veterinary technician and Lou's human, says that her pet's extra-long ears don’t require much more cleaning than those of any other dog. However, Paige does wrap Lou's ears during the winter to keep them from dragging in the snow.

Coonhounds are known for their tracking abilities. They mostly use their noses for that, but I wonder if Lou's exceptional ears help her hear what she's hunting for, too. In any case, she's a beautiful dog. You can see some photos of Lou the long-eared world record holder HERE.
