Do you remember seeing giant inflatable bunnies at the Charlotte SHOUT! festival in 2019? The festival didn’t happen in 2020. Blumenthal Performing Arts and Charlotte Center City Partners also decided to cancel it for this year, but the big bunnies are back.
The inflatable bunnies are the work of artist Amanda Parer and her whimsical installation is called Intrude. The bunnies were supposed to stand in Romare Bearden Park, but they’ve hopped over to a new uptown location: First Ward Field, directly across N. Brevard Street from First Ward Park.
According to WCNC-TV, you can see the Intrude installation through October 12th, day or night. The bunnies have lights inside them so it looks like they glow in the dark. I took a few late afternoon pictures but I may have to go back and check them out after sunset.
