Washington, D.C. native Brenda Shannon Greene was enrolled in college in New York City when her first single was released. Little did she know then that she was well on her way to becoming the “Queen of Dance, EDM & Freestyle.”
Shannon’s “Let the Music Play” was released on September 19, 1983. It was lead single from her self-titled 1984 album. “Let the Music Play” was the first of Shannon’s three number one hits on the Billboard US Dance Club Songs chart.
