I try not to eat fast food too often but sometimes you just gotta hit McDonald’s for some fries. And a burger. As a kid we used to go to McDonald’s after swim team swim meets and it was always considered a treat. And I remember the McRib sandwich, but never tried it til last year. I wasn’t a fan. That said, people LOVE it and always get excited when it returns.
McDonald’s announced that the McRib is returning to menus on November 1st for a limited time. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the beloved sandwich. It hit the menu of McDonald’s in 1981. If you’re unfamiliar with the sandwich, it’s a seasoned boneless pork patty slathered in BBQ sauce and topped off with onions and dill pickles. Love pickles and onions on a burger but even with both on the sandwich, I just couldn’t get into the McRib.
No question that it’s a fan favorite. One of my closest friends is a fitness instructor and a middle school P.E. teacher so she’s all about a healthy lifestyle. But when the McRib comes back, she’s on it! She loves it! Those that like it are definitely hard core about it.
If you’re on a diet, you have a month to plan a “cheat day” if you love the sandwich. As for me, I’ll stick with a Quarter Pounder with some fries.
