Aaron P. Bernstein/Getty ImagesHave you ever wondered what happens when a package remains undelivered? While Amazon typically refunds customers or replaces the item, the actual package is still unclaimed somewhere. So what happens to it? According to CNET, you can buy them. It's like “Storage Wars” but for undelivered packages.
There are a couple of websites to check out if you're interested in exploring this. GovDeals.com is the site the U.S. Postal Service uses to clear out undelivered items. Liquidation.com lets you choose the company you’re interested in: Amazon, Target, Walmart, and more. Some items are identified, but with others, you only see the box. You don't know what you might find!
Another company, based in Alabama, deals specifically with lost luggage that hasn't been picked up at airports. It's called Unclaimed Baggage and has been around since 1970. Same idea. You can buy unclaimed suitcases and whatever is inside. Hopefully, it isn't just dirty laundry.
I see a potential business opportunity here. If you can find good stuff in those packages or suitcases and you haven't paid a lot for them, then you can turn around and sell everything on eBay or elsewhere for a profit. But CNET warns that you should watch out for scams. Read more about that HERE.
