It’s another sign of better days to come. According to Spectrum News, after going virtual last year, the Novant Health Thanksgiving Parade will be returning to a live, in-person presentation in uptown Charlotte. However, the 2021 edition of the parade will be an evening event.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the holiday tradition, which was once known as the Carolinas Carrousel Parade. Preparations usually take about a year, with activity really picking up in August and September. I’m guessing a lot of the work has involved adding lights to the floats for this year’s “Illuminated Imagination” theme.

WCCB-TV reports that the parade will include:

  • 10 High School Marching Bands
  • 4 Community Marching Bands
  • 28 Specialty Units
  • 13 Floats
  • 7 Special Performers
  • 8 Giant Balloons

The 2021 Novant Health Thanksgiving Parade will kick off at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 24th, the evening before Thanksgiving. Buying tickets will ensure you get the best seats for this year’s “Mile of Smiles.” Get details here.
