It’s not just humans being vaccinated this fall. While they aren’t rolling up their sleeves animals at the NC Zoo have begun receiving Covid-19 vaccines. In a photo posted to social media by the zoo, you can see a couple of the primates offering up their arms to receive the shots.

The caption of the photo praises the relationship and trust between the animals and their zookeepers. Primates are the first animals to receive the vaccines as they are most susceptible to human diseases. After primates, other mammals in line to be vaccinated are big cats (ie tigers, lions, etc), bears, wolves, as well as otters.

While the animals will receive a vaccine specially developed for animals, just like humans they will receive two doses.

We first told you back in July the intent of the NC Zoo to provide Covid-19 vaccines to its animals.
