Some States Get A Lot More Sleep Than Others
The value of a good night’s sleep can be overestimated. It’s essential for your health and can affect how your whole day will go. Unfortunately, many Americans don’t get nearly enough sleep, and that varies greatly from one state to another.
24/7 Wall Street just came out with their list of the Most Sleep-Deprived States. They looked at the share of adults reporting fewer than seven hours of sleep on average using data from the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program.
Topping the list as the most sleep-deprived state is Hawaii, where 43.2% of adults report insufficient sleep. That’s surprising. You’d think that everyone in Hawaii would always be very relaxed and and have no trouble falling asleep. Maybe it’s because the islands are so beautiful that you never want to close your eyes.
On the other end of the slumber spectrum, Minnesota is the least sleep-deprived state where only 29.1% of adults report insufficient sleep. I guess those long winters make life there conducive to hibernation. And I’m sure it’s no coincidence that Minnesota usually ranks very high on lists of the healthiest states.
North Carolina is right in the middle at number 24. However, South Carolina is way up there on the sleep-deprived list at number 9. What are y’all doing down there? Stop looking at the internet and go to bed already. You can see the full report HERE.
