ABC Bringing Back “The Facts Of Life” And “Diff’rent Strokes” For Live Special
Just like they did with “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” and “Good Times,” ABC is doing another “Live In Front Of A Studio Audience” special. This time the network is presenting re-imagined episodes of “Diff’rent Strokes” and “The Facts of Life.” According to Deadline, Jimmy Kimmel, who executive produces “Live In Front Of A Studio Audience” along with Norman Lear, Kerry Washington, Will Ferrell, Justin Theroux and others, made the announcement on his late night talk show.
So far, only the cast for the “Diff’rent Strokes” episode has been revealed. John Lithgow stars as Mr. Drummond and Ann Dowd plays Mrs. Garrett. Here’s where it gets even more interesting. Kevin Hart, who is 42, will play Arnold. Damon Wayans, 61, will portray Willis. At least the big brother is older than the little brother. This should be a lot of fun.
ABC will air the live event from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, December 7th. It will stream on Hulu beginning the next day. Here’s a look back at when Arnold and Willis first met Mr. Drummond and Mrs. Garrett on “Diff’rent Strokes” in 1978.
