Every holiday season, you have a choice. You can build a gingerbread house from a kit, or you can turn your actual home into one. According to KSTU-TV, that's what one family in Utah did and it's getting a lot of attention.

Virginia Hoffman realized a few years ago that her red brick home in Salt Lake City looked a lot like a gingerbread house. That's all the inspiration she needed to transform it into a life-sized Christmas treat for the holiday season, and she has been doing it since 2019.

As an interior designer by trade, Virginia already had the vision and skills to make it happen, but this was not a job for one person. She enlisted her family to help. Virginia's husband, a professional artist, added "vanilla wafers" to the design this year. Those were made using foam insulation, a soldering iron to form the shapes, and some paint. Pretty clever.

The Hoffmans' neighbors love it. How could you not? Who wouldn't want to live on the same block as something so sweet? It looks even better with some snow on the roof. Virginia's daughter posted some photos on Reddit and you can hear more about the gingerbread house from the "baker" herself in the video below.
