ER Doctors Find The Weirdest Things Inside People
Why don’t kids listen to their parents more? When they told you not to put something in your mouth, or your nose, or your ear, or in any other of your orifices, they knew what they were talking about. But some people just have to learn the hard way, even well into adulthood.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is out with their annual list of foreign objects that Americans have either intentionally or accidentally inserted into their bodies and required a visit to the ER. I don’t know if folks are just bored or stupid. Maybe it’s another thing to blame on the pandemic — too much time at home!
Defector compiled some examples by body part. Here are some of the highlights:
Ears:
- Mothball
- Cake
- Googly eye
- Stickers – the kid didn’t want to listen to his mom so he covered his ears.
Nose:
- Doll head
- Cat food
- Mulch
- Toy pill that expands into a dinosaur. Yow!
Throat:
- Ear bud. Mistook it for a pill.
- Someone inhaled a sewing needle in a plastic tube with a string attached. They were pretending it was a blow dart.
- A kid swallowed a penny while saying she was a human piggy bank.
- Christmas ornament. ‘Tis the season!
As the list moves down the body, the objects get even weirder. Emergency room doctors must have a good time swapping stories when they get together. You can see for yourself HERE.
