Two fishermen got very lucky…or did they? Sometimes when I see stories like this my first thought is, only in Florida. Recently a Florida grandpa and his 11-year old grandson were casually spending the day fishing when they reeled in an unexpected find.

Duane Smith and his 11-year-old grandson, Allen Cadwalader, dropped a five-pound magnet in a Miami canal during a weekend fishing trip. The two reeled in two pounds of scrap metal and 40 pounds of gun: two.50-caliber Barrett sniper rifles.
According to the report, the guns were not loaded, and they didn’t find any ammunition. After the two guns were cleaned off, the grandfather noticed that the serial numbers were gouged out. It was at this point, the guns became illegal for him to possess. The police were then notified.
