Phil & Mel In The Afternoon

Weekdays 3:00PM-7:00PM

“Sixteen Candles” is not only one of the best movies from the 1980’s, it’s one of the best of all time! The movie came out in 1984, when I was 14 years-old, and I loved it. And who didn’t love Jake Ryan?! Hubba! Star of the John Hughes film, Molly Ringwald, just experienced a famous scene from the movie in real life.

In the movie “Sixteen Candles” Ringwald is a teenager whose whole family forgets her 16th birthday. And the same thing happened to her in last week on her 54th birthday. Apparently, her mom forgot her birthday! OMG!

According to Today, Ringwald posted the conversation she had with her mom on her Instagram page. “Actual conversation with my mom today,” she captioned a post on Instagram, which featured the conversation she had with her mother, who admitted she didn’t know it was her daughter’s birthday.

“That’s it?” Ringwald asked her mother. “You don’t have anything else to say to me today?” Her mom replied, “I didn’t realize it was the 18th today. Happy birthday! I haven’t got your present in the mail. Will do very soon.”

“Life imitates art,” Ringwald wrote, presumably referring to her role in “Sixteen Candles.” “How true,” her mother responded. “It took me a few more years to forget.” LOL! Ringwald had a sense of humor about the whole situation but it is hilarious that this happened to her, of all people.
