Prepare to have your jaw hit the floor. As Ukraine fights to defend its sovereignty, it’s not only their military that’s taking up arms against Russia. Civilians are risking their lives for the cause as well.

A Ukrainian man in Berdyansk spotted a landmine on the road and instead of waiting for a bomb disposal unit he took matters into his own hands. Literally. According to a tweet from The New Voice of Ukraine, he cleared the way for the Ukrainian military himself by carrying the mine in his bare hands away from the road and into some nearby woods. He has a relaxed look about him with the cigarette in his mouth, but his heart had to have been racing.

I’m guessing this man wouldn’t be so quick to pick up a landmine under ordinary circumstances. Sadly, his country’s current circumstances are far from ordinary. From what we’ve seen in the news since Russia launched their invasion on February 24th, the Ukrainian people will not lie down for anyone. They have gained the admiration of the world for their mettle and resolve.

That being said, don’t try this at home.
