Robert Pattinson Had An Intense Training Routine For ‘The Batman’
It’s not easy becoming an action movie superhero. Half of the job is getting in shape. Just ask Robert Pattinson what it took to prepare for his starring role in The Batman, which opens in theaters on Friday, March 4th.
According to Insider, Robert Pattinson says his new role helped him embrace fitness. Plus, he saw what other box office heroes had done to prepare for their films. Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) served as inspirations. Pattinson also shared details about his training routine.
‘The Batman’ Workout
- Warm up: Five minutes of cardio.
- Bicycle crunches: A core workout where you lie on your back with your knees bent at a right angle. Curl your upper body, lifting your shoulders a few inches off the floor. With hands behind your head, touch each elbow to the opposite knee.
- Dumbbell side-bends: A full-body workout where you slowly lower a dumbbell along your leg towards your knee. Then lift the dumbbell and bend your upper body in the other direction.
- Double crunche: A core workout where you lie on your back with bent knees. Bring your knees towards your chest as you crunch your torso up to meet them.
- Superman holds: A core and back workout where you lie on your stomach and extend your hands in front of your head. Then, looking toward the floor, lift your arms and legs up toward the ceiling.
If that wasn’t enough, Robert also took up boxing to build up his cardio and endurance. Then there was the military-style sandbag workout on the beach. That involved doing lunges, squats, and sprints while holding a heavy bag of sand for added resistance. But wait, there’s more! Pattinson said he also went on three to six-mile runs four times a week. Holy lactic acid buildup, Batman!
