Should Singing Be Allowed On Airplanes?
Over the past two years, airline travel has seen a lot of changes. I don’t think this is a change we need. A video has gone viral of a church group singing on a plane has gone viral and people have opinions.
Evangelical Christians singing loudly on an EasyJet flight has people talking on whether it was charming or offensive. Self-styled pastor Jack Jensz Jr, who is behind the organization Kingdom Realm Ministries, posted the video of himself and a group singing the worship song “How Great Is Our God” along to a guitar. Some of the group members stood in the aisle, while others on the plane sat in their seats, looking annoyed.
Religion aside, many people found the singing inappropriate. I’m Jewish, so obviously I am unfamiliar with the song that the group was singing, however they could be singing the theme song to “The Flintstones” and I’d be annoyed.
It’s not the religious component for me, it’s the singing on a plane. When I’m on a plane I just want to read or nap and get to where I’m going. I don’t want to have a sing along, no matter what the song is. We play Christmas music every year on our station, and no of that offends me. The song sang on the plane doesn’t offend me either. I just don’t wanna hear people singing on a flight.
According to Newsweek, the video has grabbed more than 32 million views, with varying opinions. I’m paying to fly somewhere, and I just want to get to where I’m going. I don’t care if the song is religious or not, I don’t want to deal with a sing along. If some drunk guys started singing “100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall”, that would aggravative me too.
What do you think? Should folks bust into song on a plane? Here’s the video if you haven’t seen it yet.
